After the piercing

After getting a piercing, keep a close eye on it and notice any changes that might occur. Once the piercing has healed, regular care still needs to be provided. Bacteria can easily enter your skin via the hole of your piercing. That is why, the area needs to be cleaned with the saline solution we mentioned every three months or even often in the summer days. This solution will stop the growth of germs and bacteria that can cause serious infection.

If you want to chance the jewelry, make sure the tip is sterilized and lubricated it with an anti-septic solution. If you have a piercing in your belly button, taking a bath soaks it and leaves it exposed to various germs. A shower is recommended in this case because the stream of fresh water washes away the dirt. If your piercing has not yet healed, it is best to avoid chlorinated water. Also, it is advised to avoid water that has a high concentration of pollutants.

If the clothes you are wearing over your piercing are tight, they might affect the area, causing it to become inflamed or sore to touch. Also, if you have your belly button pierced you might want to avoid doing many sit ups because it places stress on that area and prevents it from healing. A piercing needs certain vitamins and minerals in order to heal rapidly, without any undesirable infections. Eat a healthy diet and supplement it with vitamins and minerals that you can find at your pharmacy.

Safely removing the piercing is a simple procedure. Carefully remove it and avoid pulling too hard. If you're suffering from an infection, doctors advice not to remove the jewelry. Seek medical care for treating the infection and remove the jewelry after that.
